Re: Annie Robinson and Winright Adkins (1882-1947), first, according to the 1920 and 1940 Census, Grant Adkins was the brother of Winright and not his son. Second, Earl and Captain are the same (Earl “Captain” Adkins), again according to the census reports. But neither Evaline or Arvie are mentioned in either the 1920, 1930 or 1940 Census. Most records do indicate there was a daughter named Evaline. I have not seen the name Arvie anywhere. Do you have any documentation supporting that these were children of Annie and Winright? On Find a Grave, Evaline is mentioned as a child of Winright. I’m wondering did she die between the taking of the Census? Thanks. Also, Hugh Adkins was actually the son of Nancy McCowan and William H. Gillispie. Nancy married Winright Adkins (1825-1903) on 09/24/1855, the same year Hugh was born. Hugh was an infant when his mother married Winright. His father had died and Nancy was a widow when she married Winright, but Hugh started using the name Hugh Adkins which has confused many, but he actually was not an Adkins by birth.
