I am looking for proof that Francis Poteet was born in Baltimore instead of Virginia. Records prove that John and Ann Poteet came to Charles River County (later York) in Virginia and were still recorded in VA in land records after Francis’ birth. There is no proof in the records that John Poteet (b. About 1610) was from Italy, so I am searching for definitive proof. John Poteet was brought over from England by Capt Thomas Stegge and he was a surgeon. I would appreciate information that will prove Francis was born in Baltimore. For those looking for marriage records for John and Ann, they will most likely need to look in England, as she was listed as his wife when he brought her over in 1639 to Charles River Co VA.
