Dear Rod,

Its been documented that Richard is the son of William V & Elizabeth Parker Adkins. Now the V. part is in question. I’m not sure why we use it since he never did, but his son that was a Jr. did, so it stands to reason that its there (insert laugh here).

You have the right family, just need to find more evidence. I’m trying to find more Morgan County records to support Joel Adkins family. I have never found a death certificate for not one reported child. That would confirm or disprove a mothers Surname.

Only families memories support heritage it up to this point. They know who their Grandpa’s were. We’d need several death certificates, but its not looking good. Paperwork back then was simply just not kept well.

Its only been in question in my mind since my Great-Grandpa’s middle name was Apperson – some say its Emmerson, they believe Rachel was his mom. I’m really starting to believe that Rachel & Rebecca were related, maybe a cousin or a niece. One an Emmerson wife of Joel mother of Joseph K and her marries an Apperson (reportedly born in NC).

I realize an accent may be our only clue here. Its been bothering me for quite some time now, but for the last two weeks, its been my driving force. “I think its what ties the two line together.” Just need to somehow prove it. Joel’s Will would be a MIRACLE here! So, I’m hoping for a miracle. He owned land, so there must be one somewhere. We have to find more paperwork.

Thanks as always & Welcome to the Family,
Sheila Jean Adkins Metcalf
