Kay Anderson,
This is what I have found out about the two children of
Alexander Montgomery whom died in 1778.
Jane Montgomery, mother, of this Alexander Montgomery held the
Marriage Bond on Flora Montgomery in Lincoln County.
This Flora Montgomery was married to a man named Forbes.
After their marriage they soon went west towards Bowling Green
Kentucky with Robert Harroll and his wife, Margaret Edmondson
Montgomery Harroll.
The first husband of Margaret Edmondson was John Montgomery,
son of Jane and William Montgomery Sr.
After Robert Harroll died inthe area of Bowling Green, Margaret
Edmondson Montgomery Harroll would moved to the Canton Mississippi
area with one of her sons William Edmondson Harrold whom was a
Doctor in Madison County, Mississippi.
William Montgomery Jr., Heir-At-Law of Alexander Montgomery is and
or was the person known as “the bound boy” whom was in the 2nd cabin
in March 1780 with his Uncle William Montgoomery Jr.
Also, when John and Alexander Montgomery came to Kentucky in 1777
They were old enough to own lands.
Virginia Colonial Law said to own lands in Virginia the person had to
1. be eldest surviving heir
2. have obtained the age of 21
3. have married with a family to provide for
Also about this Alexander and John Montgomery, sons of
William Montgomery Sr and his wife Jane. You can find a list
of the men whom came with Daniel Boone in 1775.
The names of Alexander Montgomery and John Montgomery are
“said” to be on this list.
The two men by this name have been said to be the sosn of
Alexander Montgomery and his wife Martha Walker Montgomery, but
you must ask yourself if you think boys age 11 and 13 resepctively
would have been on this Kentucky venture? I believe the two with
Boone were in fact the sons mentioned above as sons of William Sr.
and his wife, Jane.
