Comment on Alexander Montgomery 1740-1840 by Kay Anderson

Dear Susan,

I am not certain that this Alexander Montgomery fought at the Battle of Kings Mountain.

I have not researched the battle in depth. In, 1903, A Genealogical History of the Montgomerys and Their Descendants by David B Montgomery, p. 54, the author states that he learned from the War Office that between 300-400 Montgomerys fought in the Revolution.

In the following they are listed as “possible participants”, although most do not cast doubt.

Alex Montgomery, Jr.

There are 2 families claiming their Alexander was at the Battle of Kings Mountain. One can find it on the internet, THE TRAVELOG OF ALEXANDER MONTGOMERY

I will be mindful of your query as I go forward, but presently am unable to help much. Thank you for asking.

Kay
