I too love the smell of line dried clothes & linens. I gave my clothesline up about two years ago, but I was really missing it this week. I know it seems silly, but there is something therapeutic about hanging clothes on the line.
Maybe its the entire process: Trying to keep your shoes dry as you trek out to the line. Wiping it down before each use, to keep dirt or bird poo from getting on the clean laundry. Shaking & straightening each piece before you hang it. Like with like, to make it easier to take down. Pinning the undies behind the sheets so that no one can see them. Trying to decide if you need to hang two together to save pins or if the fabric is too thick to do that, it won’t dry in time. Rushing out to beat the rain or before damp night air gets on them. Gathering up the pins, so they don’t blow off or break. I used to sing while I hung the laundry, seemed to make the chore go faster. Those were the days.
Thanks for your comment,
