I wrote an entire comment, but have no idea where it went. Okay, let’s start over, until the other one shows up from cyberspace and I sincerely hope it does, because that was a lot of detailed info. This is the condensed version.

Long story short, my Grandma was Pheba Reed Adkins aka Phebie. Her parents died very young. She was then raised by Uncle Joe Reed and Jennie Blanton Reed. I was told Jennie took everybody in, it was just whom she was. Uncle Troy (MaryBelle’s son) was raised by them as well as her brother. Her biological brother Charlie Reed was raised by the Cook family.
As for the Cherokee line – on my blog – this ties into the Adkins line – it where the family lines split and has caused more than one family argument, I mean, discussion.
In my earlier missing/lost comment I had discussed our “Reed Family Lore.” In short, I honestly believe that John Franklin Reed changed his Surname to “Reed,” but have no proof. Neither Frank nor Jack Reed, Uncle Denny Adkins nor I can find any one living or dead that can tie them to the Reed family from laFollettte (pronounced La Fit), Tennessee. They did come when he passed away & took his body back to the family farm where he was buried. I’ve been to LaFollette myself, its a beautiful place, but no info to be found.
