Kay,
In the old Kentucky records there is a deposition by William Montgomery.
In this he tells of how another William Montgomery had just died and had left behind a legacy of children.
The deponent tells of the first child being named Thomas Montgomery, then he tells of James, Alexander and Mary Montgomery, then he tells of Robert, William, John, Smith and Nancy Montgomery.
He tells that Nancy was the youngest and that she will be 21 years March next.
He gives his age as being almost sixty.
He tells of the man that he believes has just only died as being known as William Montgomery Jr. and that he died in July 1794.
*********
This William Montgomery Jr. ad a brother named John Montgomery and it was this John that had died in March 1780.
In this deposition he tells of how John had, an infant son that was killed. it was also said by deponent that after John had died, that William Jr. had become Heir-At-Law of his family.
(Note: William Sr., Alexander, and John were all dead when the end of March 1780 came)
The deponent whom is telling of these events was William Montgomery whom married the Betsy Montgomery, daughter of William Sr., and Jane his wife.
Remember when Trabue told the story, that he said that Betsy climbed out of the cabin through the chimney, as at that time she was only 12 years old?
Remember Trabue also told that Betsey ran for help to the Petite’s Fort?
It is her husband named William Montgomery that was the deponent to the document above.
It is her husband that removed to Marion County, Missouri and there died in 1832.
It is her husband, William Montgomery that made the Rev War soldiers application while a resident of Marion Co. Mo. in 1832.
It is her husband William Montgomery that tells his Rev War pension application that he did his service from Amherst Co. Va.
I hope this finds you well
