Dear Anita,
Its always a good place to start with giving as much information as you can on a family for someone to be able to track them.

I’m sorry, but I couldn’t find anyone who knew whom his family was, or even a odd family member, such as siblings. Its odd that there would be no cousins or others siblings that interacted with this family, regardless of how estranged they may have been.
There was no census for Anderson in 1820. Anderson County was partitioned from a portion of Grainger County, Tennessee as well as a portion of Knox County, Tennessee, in 1801. I haven’t done my research on Anderson, so it may have been part of somewhere else. I have no idea as to where they would have censused to be recorded, but if I was to make an educated guess, I would say they lived in Smith County, Tennessee and later moved the family to Anderson. Smith is the only county that lists most of the names listed here. Franklin County was close, but Smith had a Carter Johnson family. Franklin had no listing for anything near Carven Johnson.
I checked 1830 Census for Anderson, Tennessee, there were 10 Johnson families living there. Benj, Carven and/or Craver Senior, Daniel, John, Kinga, Mark, Peter, Wilson, Wm. Johson (Johnson).
On the 1840 Census for Anderson, TN we have 2 Peter’s, Craven, James, Kinza, Mark, Nelson, Stephen and William Johnson.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In 1850 Craven Johnson Subdivision 16, Anderson, Tennessee abt 1798 Tennessee
Calvin Johnson Subdivision 16, Anderson, Tennessee abt 1800 Tennessee
Calvin A Johnson Subdivision 16, Anderson, Tennessee abt 1839 Tennessee
Craven S Johnson Subdivision 16, Anderson, Tennessee abt 1843 Tennessee
With Peter being 95 and his wife Nancy being 98, as the oldest living relatives.
They also list a Vardement Johnson Subdivision 16, Anderson, Tennessee abt 1813 Tennessee married to a Locky abt 1811 Tennessee (I only mention this because, Locky is a old female Adkins name.
Kenzy Johnson Police District 5, Pike, Mississippi abt 1807 Tennessee married to Jane and old enough for Jane to be a possible 2nd wife and children to have already moved out, but still has a house full.
Here are your family members. You need to track each of them. Kinza being the easiest to track was born abt 1802 – TN is widowed and has moved his family to Washington, Louisiana in 1860; 1860 – Franklinton P.O., Washington Parish, LA.
There is a Cravin and a Carver Johnson – best guess here very are close in age, if not twins of the original family.
That’s a good place to start. Go to the courthouses, hospitals, newspapers and Historical Societies in Anderson and Smith Counties, to see if there are any old court documents left. Its a long shot I know, but one certainly worth investigating. Then check for the oldest Will on record for the Johnson families in both counties.
Let’s hope that someone has a tie to the other siblings and can trace, them back even farther.
Thanks as always, and Welcome to the Family,
Sheila Jean Adkins Metcalf
PS: Good Luck with the hunt… that’s always the best part!
