Comment on Great-Grandma Margaret Cook aka Maggie by Phil Cook

I am the son of Harold Dean Cook the son of Thomas Cook.
I have been trying to find out Havila sr parents name and have found Solomon Cahill and Elizabeth Parker as his parents
I have always been told that our name was not originally Cook and that there was an adoption by the Cook’s.
If anyone has any information it would be greatly appreciated.
