Comment on Philosophy by Sheila

Thank you Susan, I love it when family drops by. My friends and family are some of the best cooks I know. I love to try new (old) recipes. I’ve had a few flop, but then I keep trying different things.

I decided many years back to start writing everything down. I keep all of my tasks in Outlook. I tried the Sharp/Daytimer which I loved and it worked out great, but then it moved on to Palm and so on. I just kept finding myself syncing all of my new gadgets with Outlook. That has always worked out the best for me. I do love my folio, but I’m not a slave to it. Outlook works because if I don’t get it done today; the sun will come up the same way tomorrow, I can check it off then. Anthony’s mom’s favorite saying was, “A man can work from sun to sun, but a woman’s work is never done!”

I do change my philosophy from time to time, whenever something is no longer working for me. Most of all I’ve learned to be flexible. As women we go through so many changes in our lives, we must learn to adapt to our individual situations and to NEVER let others put undue expectations on our lives. I can’t live your life any more than you can live mine. I don’t make any excuses for the way I live in my house and neither should you. An older friend told me that years ago. Words to live by.

If you have children at home, your life tends to revolve around them. When they’re off to college or married with their own children, you’ll have a lot more time to work on the house or bigger even projects. Each stage brings about all a whole new set of changes and experiences. I try for the most part to be where I’m needed. I serve only the Lord, the rest of my life is up to me. Others will try to tell me how to live, but I decide that for myself.

You see the word “VIVRE,” everywhere on my blog. It simply means, “LIFE with STYLE!” I do try to enjoy every minute of it. It may happen to me at times, but for the most part, I try and live it to the fullest! I dress today, as if each person I meet, will be for the first time, and I want to make a good impression. I don’t care if people don’t like something about me, they don’t have to, because I like me – just the way I am!

I hope you feel the same way. Have a wonderful evening!

As always,
Sheila Jean Adkins Metcalf
