With regard to note 28., the Peter Fickett who married Mary Bondfield in 1681 is a dead end for us Fugate researchers. This well documented marriage occurred in or near Marblehead, Massachusetts on December 9, 1681 and the resultant family line is long and full down to the present day. It would have been a perfect fit for our Peter Fugate’s first wife (if he had one as we suspect), but unfortunately they were two different Peters. This is possibly where the Scottish connection came from. Like you John, I’m real certain that Peter was French based on the records you site. And he did immigrate with George Goldsmith and was his personal servant for a time before his release from indenture. I suspect there are more Maryland records that haven’t been brought to the public light which may reveal Peter’s first wife and the possible mother of Josias.
