Kay Anderson,
Please re-read the Pension Application on Alexander Montgomery.
The Application also includes the words by one Peter Sullivan.
Peter Sullivan said that he watched Alexander Montgomery sign
for five year or the duration of the war.
Peter Sullivan also said that they signed up in “Jersey.”
That is the reason Alexander Montgomery was discharged at
Monmouth.
What we have is an intriguing miscalculation of men named Alexander
Montgomery.
Now, again about those at Moore’s Fort in 1777.
I agree with you about the brother’s Alexander and John being listed
there on the Militia Roster.
And their ages would have been 15 for Alexander and 13 for John, but
I do not agree with them being at Boonesborough in 1775.
Yes, I have read the depositions given by John Montgomery dated 1811
in Russell County that tells of the Fugate lands on Mocassin Creek.
This is also where John tells of his parents coming to Virginia in 1771.
John also tells of the old “Cabin” that belong to his father as being near
the Headwaters of Little Mocassin Creek.
By watching the county maps of this area, these Headwaters were to
be located east of Lebanon Virginia, which is northeast of Castle-Woods.
