I enjoyed your insight, however I have a presumption I would like to forward. I know people tend to combine names Like John James Poteet m. Elizabeth Crabtree, however based on the few sibling birth dates I have surrounding this particular Poteet line, coud we not *guess*:
James Poteet m. Elizabeth Crabtree; son of John Poteet m. Elisabeth Craswell; son of John Poteet m. Elisabeth ? ; son of Francis Poteet m. Mary Carraway.
Granted this is circumstantial and evidence would be needed, but it is a decent educated guess base on several factors. Hope this helps, etc.
