I just started researching my family tree with the hopes to find native american lineage. My daughter looks very native american and I have known that we had the genetics but have recently started looking. I have found that we are related to Mary BlueSky through Littleberry and Hezakiah Adkins. I am however finding dificulty tracking some other lines that have adkins in them. It looks like in atleast 3 different lines I run into adkins. However, my question is that I have a son getting ready to turn 19 the first of Sept and I have heard that in order to register as native american you need to do it between 18-19. Is this true? Do you need to prove a certain percentage of native american blood? What would be the best first step for me once I figure out the rest of the adkins lineage?
