Mike,
In my prior messages I provided documentation for Alexander and John Montgomery being at Boonesborough. The connection begins at Moore’s Fort, also known as Snoddy’s Fort after the boys’ uncle, John Snoddy. Daniel Boone and his family lived at Moore’s Fort 1773-1775. John Snoddy was sometimes in command of the fort as was Daniel Boone. John Snoddy was deposed and said he accompanied Daniel Boone to Kentucky and established Boonesborough alongside Boone in 1775. Boonesborough was much better protected than the smaller forts the families sought out for protection. In my view it is but one interesting story involving these pioneer families who traveled together in the wilderness.
I have to say I am not certain of the year Alex and John lived at Boonesborough. The group that has the best information on that is The Society of Boonesborough and they have proof for many who lived at Boonesborough 1775-1810. I can tell you that John Snoddy and Samuel Porter, uncles to Alex and John, were also at Boonesborough. My John Montgomery is a member of the Society of Boonesborough. Any descendant of Alex, his brother, would also become a member if they so desired. Our discussion is a good reason for folks to join any Society. People often have different historical views.
As a researcher I ask you to disprove this membership to the Society of Boonesborough. If you are successful I will salute you and politely go my way. Until that happens the information I present stands as accepted.
